Tucked away on our third floor, The Kemp is just right for an escape and taking stock of things. And then, when you’re ready, you can walk right across the hall to our rooftop coffee deck for a little fresh air and socializing. “Kemp” is the maiden name of owner and chef Kirby’s mother’s mother. First name: Ada. The oldest of nine in an Iowa farming family, who planned to travel the world until she met Paul Pennington in San Francisco and got engaged the day Pearl Harbor was bombed. We just know this would have been the perfect spot for her to call her own with her pet poodle, Pogo, in tow.
